goodbye

around 8:30 tonight, my best friend nikki passed away after a long battle with a degenerative nerve disease. along with taking away her mobility, the disease was also eating away at her spirit. her condition took a turn for the worse in the last 3 weeks, and she was ready to go. she passed quietly and peacefully in my arms. she was an incredible friend, and i will miss her terribly.

if you have the chance, say a prayer or think a good thought for her. she leaves behind a long list of friends and family whose lives are better for having known her. she lived a good 14 1/2 years, but it didn't seem like quite enough.

goodbye nikki, i will never forget you...

This makes me sad. Nikki was a boon companion during that summer when I went from full-time to laid off to freelancing. She was like my business partner most days.

"Nikki, what do you think about this layout? Bill doesn't like it, he says it's "asymmetrical". But he's crazy isn't he. Isn't he, Nikki!??! That's right, he's CRAZY. Not like us!"

Godspeed, Nik.

Thanks also for the link to the blog- I am off to read happy news as well.

Nikki was a good friend to all of us. She helped me thru some really tough times in my life and even though I haven't been with her the past few years, I'll miss her very much.

I'm glad she was at home with you when she went. I know how much the vet's office scares her.

She's in a better place now.

Hi Guys...
I know from first hand experience what it is like to have a part of your life die in your arms. You should take comfort in the kind of life Nikki led because of you. Even in the end you continued to do the right thing for her by ending her suffering. She will always be in your hearts and hopefully the wonderful memories you have will gradually ease the pain. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love and sympathy...

Nikki was truly one of the best dogs I have ever known. She always made me smile. She will be missed but I have a feeling she will be looking down on you guys from time to time.

Todd; I'm so sorry for your loss; I always liked Nikki and remember she's now out of pain and in a much better place. Patsy

Todd,

I am a friend of Heather's and I know first hand what it is like to have yout best friend die in your arms. It has been 7 months since mine passed and she was 15 years old.

Todd take comfort that she is no longer in pain and is still right there as part of your family but she can now run and play.

I'll be thinking of you all!

Kristin

What a lucky girl to have had you all in her life? I'm anxious to give you all hugs this weekend! You have been in our thoughts and prayers.
Nikki is was greated by my cat Megan who passed away about 3 weeks ago. She's not alone! When I think of the timing of her passing, as intense as it is, I think it's pretty special that she waited until Eve arrived... Nikki wanted to wait until your family was complete. Once she knew that everyone was safe and settled she knew it was time for her to move on...
Love, Nikki, Jay, Jack and Sam
